Radiator Capacity
Does anyone know what the radiator's capacity is? NOT the entire cooling system, which is 20 quarts.
This is my first truck, and perhaps it's capacity is larger than I'm accustomed to. I want to change the antifreeze (since I don't know when it was done last, I just bought the truck). I have a back flush kit, but at 20 quarts for the whole system, I need to put 10 quarts (2 1/2 gallons) of antifreeze in to get the 50/50 mixture. Will the radiator hold that?

this is just a guess off the top of my head.
radiator is probably about 2 gal.
block is probably about 2 gal.
that only adds up to about 4, not 5, so there's another gallon there somewhere.
you can drain the radiator the slow way with the drain on the drivers side. its a funky valve - you turn it about 1/4 or 1/2 counter clockwise, then pull out. you can then turn it another 1/4 to 1/2 to remove it completely.
the faster way to drain the radiator and part of the block is to remove the lower radiator hose.
to completely drain the block, there is a drain plug on each side, hiding behind the engine mounts. this is the best way to do it because it drains the straight water used in the flush and rust deposits and crap and allows you to refill with distilled water or 50/50.
