Default Truck dies when taking off??

I got a 1995 Dodge ram 1500 5.2 (318) 4x4. I drive it to school every day and yesterday is when this started to happen. I drive to school in the morning no problem, after school it will start right up like it always does, ill put it in reverse back up no problem but when i put it in drive and give it a little gas and it dies. start it back up and it will do the same thing. If i give it a little gas in neutral and then put it in drive it still does it, but when i finally get it going and im driving its fine. The truck will idle also. I thought it could be the EGR valves, but i replaced those 6 months ago and the truck would idle and it only seems to do it in drive, so thats why i dont think it could be that. Could it have anything to do with the clutch, tranny? I dont know much about these trucks because ive never had to really do anyting with it. Any thoughts about would it would be would be great.

Does it jerk hard, and just quit? If so, might be TCC not disengaging properly. Also might be TPS.... or low fuel pressure.....

not really jerk hard, just a little and fuel pressure could be the problem because it died on the interstate on me last week and i had to beat on the fuel filter and pump a little then i was good. Ill take off the fuel filter and see if its clogged or something. Is there any tricks on getting it off or putting it back on?

The first thing you have to do is drop the gas tank to "check" the filter. You would be better off, getting a cheap fuel pressure tester/gauge and check it that way first.

This is from Dodge.ISMO here on DF

Hello Dodge enthusiasts. Even thiugh this is an old thread, I also believe in helping others with important information. I had code 37 in my 1995 Dodge Ram Sport 1500-4x4 SLT Lariat yesterday, (Nov. 03/09). I found out some useful information that hopefully will ease some "Dodge minds" out there. 1) Everyone, I hope, knows about the code 37 definition: TCC, (torque convertor clutch solenoid [CKT]) or transmission temperature sensor too high or too low. *NOW*, if your "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" is illuminated during operation, (while truck is running/ being driven), then this is your problem. *(behind Auto tranny oil filler tube, at its base, [where it "plugs" into transmission], the connector could be faulty, loose, or bad contact). *****NOW THE SECRET INFO!!!***** From the 1995 truck (Ram) manuals; Trucks with the trailer towing package, include a transmission coolant temperature SENSOR!.., with the "standard package" truck, it does not include this sensor. So... the fault code detection system is causing the low (no) voltage indication..... "NO SENSOR TO SEND ANY VOLTAGE" !! **So if you're getting code 37, BUT, the "check engine light",.. "DOES NOT" stay on during operation (while it's running or when you're driving it), this is your problem,... which means..there IS no problem. Hope this info helps, Dodge.Ismo.

It stays on the whole time when im driving it. So that means its just the connector, which could be faulty or loose or bad contact. I could tell if its loose or not but how do i know if its faulty or bad contact? I will look at this in the morning. So in other words its not nothing major and shouldnt cost to much. Also what exactly does the torque converter clutch solinoid do? Thanks for all the help
