Default how hot is it supposed to be??

How warm does your rear axle pumpkin get?? I changed the fluid in my rear axle and put in fresh 75w-90 Mopar oil back in it. I don't have limited slip so i didn't put in that additive. I drove it about 100 miles today and when i got back home I felt the axle where the gears are and it was pretty warm to the touch, maybe too warm? I'm not sure. I don't know if this is normal or what, not sure how warm it used to get before I changed the fluid. When i filled it i only got about 2 1/2 quarts in it before it started running out of the fill hole and owners manual said i should get about 3 quarts in there...let me know what you guys think! thanks!

normal huh? probably just being paranoid but it looked like it got warm/hot enough to discolor the cover a bit...I'll take your word for it though.

Check it with a temp gun to see how hot it actually gets

Its completely normal to be nice and warm. I was the same way being paranoid when i had my 4.10s done and they blew out a week later. Had them done again and so far im at a little over 10k miles with no problems at all.
