Question nut and bolt that hold battery cables to battery rusted on how to remove?

I bought a new battery since mine went bad the other day but the nut and bolt that hold the ends onto the battery cable and rusted on really bad.I did spry them for the last 3 days with pb blaster and wd 40 they wont break free.what would be a good way to break the rust free of get these rusted nut and bolts off so I can put my new battery on?

ps: the battery has been in there since 2000 so the nut and bolt are rusted real bad.

Are these the ones that hold the clamp to the battery, or the cable to the clamp?

Either way, I would be real tempted to just cut the clamps off, and replace them.

yep. cut the clamps with a chisel or saw and get new terminals at the parts store. they will clamp onto the cables.

Cut all corroded wires out and strip enough to put on new clamps.

hint: be smart and buy anti-corrosion pads (red and black) to put on your new battery, as well as some anti-corrosion red-spray. Red spray goes clear re-apply. Perfect clamps and battery terminal connections all the time.

Use two wrenches or vice grips and twist the bolt until it breaks then work each end back & forth until you can turn it out.

I would just cut them off, personally, and get new clamps. That is what I did, as mine wore out so bad I broke the bolts tightening them down one day. I cut them off as close to the old clamps as I could, and then crunched on some of those "quick release" ones from Advance Auto.

For future reference, cover the terminals and the threads of the bolt with either petroleum jelly or No Corrode Gel.
