IIRC I think you can swap them. What year is the new TC from?

Default Transfer case with a yoke

ok my transfer case went out, so i found one online. and today i was going to install the 4x4 drive shaft, and there is a yoke on the transfer case and my front axle. I still have my old trasfercase. should it be a direct swap. my 4x4 drive shaft is a bolt up to the transfer case,

Depending on year, the shift pattern will be different too.

Your shaft will unbolt from the transfer case itself just leaving you with the round mounting flange that the driveshaft bolts to. You should try and find out what year your replacement transfer case came out of. Just check your tags on your old and new transfer case and post it up on here. Once you know that and what type of cases they are we can help you out a little better.

Well i know the 99 and 2000 will change out. The 231D from a 5.2 or 5.9 should be a direct replacement for him. Im not sure on other years maybe someone else can chime in with a little more information. I just went through this whole thing last week
