Default A Scary Sputter

I think I have a PCM going out, but before I go to the expense of this, here are the symptoms. I was out about 120 miles from home, when the engine started missing, sputtered and then eventually picked back up again. Ran just fine on the way home. I have a new fuel pump and the injectors have about 20,000 miles on them. It stalled on me one other time, but I was able to restart. Why I think it's a PCM is the lights for the ABS and Brakes come on. If I turn off the key, they go away for another day. Also, I get random Check Engine codes; lately the Purge Control.

Anyone out there have some light to shed on this?

Many thanks!

Not getting any speed sensor codes are you? Does the speedo act up when that happens? Random misfire codes? Have you looked at your plenum yet? (see the stickied post at the top of this forum.....)

Don't have the "Beer Keg" intake, I put the Hughes FI Air Gap. Speedo seemed okay, just started sputtering. I do notice that the speedometer seems to stay the same while my Garmin GPS changes speed up to 3 MPH before it registers. Also, the engine temp seems to fluctuate more than normal.

Thanks for the reply.

possible vac leak in the evap system, or a blown head gasket if the temps are fluctuating. Both can cause a miss symptom.
