Front Brake rotor replacement
Anyway, 1998 4x2 2500- I need to replace the front rotors, looked in FAQs...didn't find much.
What do I torque the hub nut too? I found 175 ft lbs on the web, is that right?
Any tips or DYI write ups?
Thanks....I like to spend my time under the hood of my Dakota, but the Ram needs some love too. And it's gotta have good brakes...It tows the Dakota...

If you have the unit bearing (hub and bearing gets replaced all as one....), then that number is correct. If you have tapered roller bearings in there that you can replace.... then, it's just tighten it up until there isn't any more slop, and then, just enough to get the cotter key into the castle nut.

While you are (slowly) tightening the nut, you should spin the rotor so the bearings seat to the specified torque, then back off. I suggest you look in the Haynes manual for the full correct procedure.
Quick version of Haynes manual is spin hub in forward direction while tightening spindle nut to approximately 20 lbs. Loosen spindle nut 1/4 turn then use your hand and hand tighten until snug. Install lock nut and cotter pin. If it doesn't line up remove nut lock and turn slightly until they do.
