Have a look here. They can be pricey, but, it will more than likely be the last trans you have to replace. (which in the end, will save you money.....)

You might be happier by just getting a different vehicle.

How much have you spent on the previous two rebuilds, and how long did they last? Seems to me, you have already invested more than the cost of the new trans, with rebuilds that don't last.

Ok , When I bought the truck she had 50k on it. Bought the warranty 1795.00 , then at 72k trans rebuild was 1795. warranty co had gone bankrupt. spent few 100 trying to take them to court. Then second time was only partial 770.00, at hmm,,101k?

So, 1795 + 770.00 + legal costs..... is more than the 2695.00 they want for a stout trans. And if you spend another 1700-1800 bucks to rebuild it again, and it craps out in 20K miles....... you get to pay for it yet again. Spending the additional money NOW, pretty much guarantees you won't have to spend the 1700-1800 again later.

Yeah, it hurts.... no doubt of that. My wallet feels for you.

Justification is easy: You need a new transmission and you don't ever want to have to buy another.

Financially: The sum we're talking about is the fair market value of your truck as it sits right now, plus three grand. What will that buy you in your local market and how does that stack up against your truck with the new PATC transmission under it? Chances are, I think, that your truck with the shiny new juicer is going to come out ahead -- but it's easy enough to do your homework to discover the numbers to crunch and determine for yourself which is the financially sound choice.

Ticking in an engine with 122k miles on the clock is almost always lifter noise, and more often than not you can fix that noise without ever turning a wrench. Replace a quart of engine oil with ATF a few hundred miles before the next oil change and it might just make that tick go away before the oil change.

Purely coincidentally, I'm wearing my PATC t-shirt that came with my new Mega Viper about a year ago.
