Default The HEMI swap

hey guys, kinda new to the forum , i´ve been lurking for a while ..
i have a 1995 Dodge Ram sport with a 5.9l magnum ..

i have a couple of 5.7 hemi engines lying around and a rebuilt 545rfe trans..

now i really want to swap one into my truck... i want my keep stock dash and all that stuff, so my plan is to keep things simple..

i would like to buy a FAST XFI engine management system with a cable driven TB but what can i do about the PCM in order for me to use the 545rfe trans, should i ditch the 545 and go with a retro fitted 727?
or is there a way for the stock 545 PCM to operate with the FAST XFI system?

i do want to keep the 545 in the setup its a smooth operating transmission and i like the overdrive it offers

If you're going to race your truck the 727 will get you better et's but the 545 would be better for ll around purposes. About the PCM, I would simply call FAST and ask their opinion. I know they can program it to most Chevy and Fords. You can call TCI in Missisppi and ask their opinion as well. It may be easier to just go with the 727 because I'm think they can program their TCM to them. FAST is a stand alone TCM so you can use it with any engine, just not sure about the 545 but I don't see why not. They can do just about anything, you just need the software. Call TCI first chance you get...they should know just as well as anyone else because they use FAST for their builds.

Not sure if it applies, but, here is a very good thread on the subject that has been going on for quite some time.

A member HemiDakQuad (think i got it right) put a Hemi in a Dakota Quad Cab, tragically it was recently totaled in a wreck. His next project is a Hemi Jeep Wrangler if I remember right. I'm sure he could help answer related questions.

I suppose you'd have to ask him. But I'll bet it was the stock motor value. Insurance companies are cheap...
