I jus had my trany rebuilt and I put a heavy duty tranny cooler on. My question is how many qts of atf would I need to fill it. I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9 gas auto tranny.

Thanks zman cost me about $1500 for rebuilt tranny. Put a bigger oil cooler so hopefully won't have a problem.

Don't forget to use ATF+4. You should put a drain plug in the pan too, before you fill it.

Transfer case is filled from a plug in the back of the case. It has it's own fluid supply.

Not sure about transfer case, but cooler may add an additional quart to capacity (depending on size).

Transfer case is separate, and will require the amount mentioned in that link. And just an FYI, depending on year and options, the tranny can take up to 16 gt's .
