where to mount CB radio?
yeah im putting in a cb radio so i can listen to the truck drivers on the highway they know where them smokies are lol.I did do a search and seems most people put the bracket on the floor facing up right in front of the seat.do you have to drill holes in the floor or can you use self taping screws?I have a pretty good antenna a wilson 1000 mag mount.but im looking for a small cb im not sure if my galaxy 99v will fit in there it may?
Could you guys kindly post pics of that location for the cb?
I found where kadetklapp put his awesome sauce HAM. Tight fit dude.
I was considering the Cobra 75 where everything is in the handset. It's got some "balanced" reviews.

I mounted my cb is the same place as a few other people on here, I find its placement works well since it is out of the way but still withing reach, and being at the bottom edge of the dash allows the wires to be hid quite well.

As for the cable as was asked before. I ran mine through the rubber grommet that's at the back lower corner of the cab. And then ran the cable under the door still and up under the dash to the radio, no tight bends and a short cable length.
Here is a pic of the spot I'm talking about with the hole in the cab corner. Not sure if the standard cabs have it too or just the extended.

ok well since i dont want to drill holes in the dash or the cup holder fold down.im thinking on the floor in front of the seats.but I need another bracker my cb radio bracket faces frontwards.hhmmmm not sure how im going to do this yet.
My local CB shop had the front of seat brackets in stock when I went down there. I had to have that kind with my bigger cobra CB since the stick shift would hit it if I mounted it under the stereo like many automatic tranny dudes do.

Lot of great ideas on here and glad to see radio is still being used!
I am a serious licensed radio operator and use mine everyday.
The drink holder was broken when I bought my truck so I removed it.
Yaesu FT 1802 2 meter mono band 50 watt output.
1978 lafayette HB-640 / 40 channel CB (works great) Also have PA connected under the hood.

Here is a pic of my home equip. (not related to thread)
I can throw down 1KW with my custom home brew amp.
(told you I was serious!)

I like it a lot. I'm running a Barjan 4 foot fiberglass antenna mounted to the bed. SWR is low (according to the meter on the radio for whatever accuracy that is worth) and I get ok range in town, and decent range on the highway for what I can tell. Most important for me is the weather band which comes in strong no matter where I have gone so far, so I'm happy with it.
