Ok, there goes that theory.

Once you find TDC, and the second valve is closed, you need to make sure the pulley and harmonic balancer are lined up with the TDC on the timing cover.

If you have been rotating the engine crank to do that, THEN you will be negating all your TDC work. You need to reinstall the dampener/pulley in that position.

After that, all you need to do is line up both dots at 12 oclock and 12 oclock.

now wen i do find TDC and the valve is fully closed and looks good then i put the TC cover back on and the harmonic balencer. and what if the marks dont line up then wat do i do? and the cam gear is supposed to be a 12 O clock to or at 6?

Ok intake valve opens then closes, both valves will be closed at this time and the piston will be moving up still, when the marks line up this is tdc ign and were you need to be.

WAIT WAIT WAIT.

you don;t need to rotate ANYTHING after you get to TDC because the crank and cam are already lined up. You just need to reinstall the crank and cam sprokets 12 oclock and 12 oclock. THEN make sure the pulley/dampener is INSTALLED at TDC on the timing cover.

If you ahve not pulled the dist, then you don;t need to degree the camshaft or rotate it.

If you rotated the camshaft once you got the crank to TDC, then you will be on a wild goosechase

oh okay so basicly wen the vavles are closed thats TDC. now when i put the balcener on and align it to the TC cover then it will be trueTDC and the valves will still remain closed but the piston will have moved up the extra 1/8th of a inch to meet the TC mark?

If everything is at TDC, and the sprockets are not lined up, then you installed the sprokets the wrong way. It won;t affect starting your engine, but you will never be able to judge TDC by looking at the sprokets.

SOLUTION:
1. Get engine to TDC WITH THE TIMING CHAIN ON, seems like you did that.
2. Take off the sprokets and reinstall them 12 oclock and 12 oclock
3. Install the timing cover and make sure the crank pulley/dampener is lined up with TDC.

4. Put everything else on and fire it up.
