Default no cat or muffler

HI, i currently have my 5.2l 2001 dodge ram 1500 with no muffler. I like the sound however want to have something deeper sounding. I was thinking of taking the cat of as well to get a more deeper sounding tone and rumble.

first of all, does it make deeper?
will I loose too much backpressure?
will my gas mileage drop considerably?

taking off your cat can possibly make your exhaust sound raspier. mpg's should really change. if any it might go up .1-.2 mpgs because of less restiction
edit when i first drop my cat it didnt hurt my mpgs any

When I dint have a cat or muffler I lost a lot of mileage and low end . Also since you have a 01 you have a death flash so it will really run bad

Check out a Flowmaster single chamber. It will be deeper but I'm not so sure about street legal. But you can keep the cat and not lose back pressure.

It's against federal law to remove your cat, even if your state doesn't test for emissions. And it increases the amount of ozone and carbon monoxide put into the air. I hope you leave it in place.

Also 2000+01 rams cats are easy since its a 3 in 3 out , universal cars are like 80 buck and will be 3 times louder along with better get up and go .
Death flash is a software computer flash that regards your timing and kills your mileage and power . Look for the sticker on the computer . Sct tuner fixes it with a Hellas lot more power and he removes the torque management that is better for the tranny . Best mod for these trucks for sure !

I'm with the other guys. Get a new cat to replace yours, or leave your old one on.

Running without a cat and without a muffler sounds awful to me.

There is a big difference between something that sounds good and something that just sounds loud.

I thought it sounded pretty cool with no muffler. It sounds like your doing 200mph every time you hit the gas. The problem is it attracts alot of attention. Too much attention for me. The last thing I need is the heat noticing me.
