No, it's going to hold the force of 280 lbs of pull on an 18" breaker bar, for a total of around 420 ft. lbs, which is plenty to get the pitman arm off. Actually, probably twice that much, since that's just what it's rated for. My puller is at least 20 years old, and has never broken. Made in the USA.
Why you guys are so eager to torch and bash a pitman arm is beyond me. Maybe you should have a look at this:

No, it's going to hold the force of 250 lbs of pull on an 18" breaker bar, for a total of around 420 ft. lbs, which is plenty to get the pitman arm off. My puller is at least 20 years old, and has never broken. Made in the USA.

i had way more than 420 ft lbs on that puller while hitting it with a hammer before it finaly bent and it didnt even creek. i cant think of another way to get it off other than hittin it with a heavy hammer.

I can think of another way to get it off; use a good puller. Either that, or replace the pitman arm like Merc said.
A really good puller - the adjustable kind - will let you put an incredible amount of force on the arm, and let you knock on it (the end of the puller shaft) pretty good without it popping off. I've never run into a pitman arm that puller wouldn't get off.

I looked for a good puller when I did my front end, but could only find the cheap imported ones. I bent it, but got the pitman off. I would like to have one for the tool box if I could find a good one. I hate cheap tools!
