I need fast help : cap rotor problem
(I also don't think of rotors "clicking" into place; seems to me they just slide on snugly).
First off, the rotor wasn't on the shaft correctly.
Secondly, the cap was on the wrong way, I didn't realized they were directional.
Turned it around and it fit, sanded the shaft and it fit.
It runs great now! Runs like a bat outta hell. Very smooth power pick up. The contacts on the cap weren't as bad as some I've seen, but they had a bunch of carbon on them. Funny thing is, the old cap and rotor I took off look to be Accel units. What did I put on? Accel units.

Also routed the wires per the TSB. That was a bit obnoxious, but it's a lot better when you have NO wires on the cap.
"Secondly, the cap was on the wrong way, I didn't realized they were directional".
I think that's what did it. I don't think it'll sit down squarely if it's on backwards. But how did you put it on backwards with the wires still attached?

Duh. That makes sense. And you probably know that the cap is usually marked with a little "1" where wire 1 goes, but in the dark, and where that distributor is located, easy to miss. Glad you got it running great.
He's all set. Old and new caps were almost undoubtedly the same; OP just had a brain fart, like I did a couple of posts ago in this thread.
Here's the carnage:

Old one is on the left, new one I broke on the right.

Cap isn't TOO bad..

What is the little rubber thing? There is a hole that goes down into the cap. On the old one the hole is stopped up, it wasn't punched out...the new one is open though. Both caps have this.
Thanks guys!
