Default Cross-reference on starter part#

My dad has a 1994 Ram 1500 5.9 and I have a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2

Are these starters the same or not? Which starters from which models are the same for the 1994 5.9L ???

By the way...is anyone interested in a 1994 regular cab long bed 5.9 Ram that runs great but is in need of some cosmetic care??

There are three differnt starters between 94 and 01. The remanufacturers do not reccomend interchanging these units due to the difference in drives and openings. Ranges are 94-95(17466), 96-98(17573) and 99-01(17785). The part #s are industry standard Lester interchange numbers.
