Talking Motor replaced!

Hey guys, I've been talking on here over the last couple of months about doing a built 360 for my truck because I had been burning a lot of oil. Well I decided to go buy a <75k motor off of craigslist, throw on all new top end seals (head gaskets, valve seals, intake, ebay plenum kit, double roller timing, etc.) and threw it in. Its out of a 98 Ram and was in extremely clean condition. I modded my Kegger and bought some Pacesetter shorties to throw on it too. Going from burning 2.5 quarts of oil a week to this new motor is awesome! My truck runs like a champ now and my wallet is a lot lighter to carry around haha. Its not a really "built" motor, but its a hell of a lot better than what I had.

Now I'm stuck between keeping this motor and throwing some better heads on it down the road and maybe a cam, or taking the old motor and making a 408. The engine swap was a PIA and my friends don't really want to go through with it again, but they can if I decide to do it. Suggestions are welcome, but I thought I would give an update on my truck lol.

408 can be a very costly build. Check out Matty675's thread..... He had several thousand invested, and wasn't quite done yet.

I would rebuild your spare 360... better heads, new bearings/rings/seals/oil pump/etc. Better cam, rockers, and whatever else you would want to throw on there. (and don't forget to set aside 365 bucks for the custom tunes to run it from Hemifever.)

JMO, but, use the money you would spend on doing something with the spare motor and get some gears to go with those 315 tires.

Nuff said I think. 3:55 gears suck big time. Unless you run 225 tire's.

Another option I came across was to put new seals on the old motor and see if I can get a couple hundred bucks for it.
