Default Changing heater core tomorrow morning

So i gotta change the heatercore. It looks like tomaro is gonna be the only decent day so im gonna do it. This is my first time changing one but i have the haynes manual so im not to worried about it. Also the truck didnt come with a/c from the factory so that might make it easier. Are there any tips to make this job easier or anything i should watch out for?

Don't forget to remove/disconnect the small cable for the PRND21 before dropping the steering column.

Take your time. The dash can break easily pulling it out. There are two clips holding down the old heater core, so don't forget to remove them before you try to install the new one. One of them is a PITA to remove. Probably a good idea to flush your system so nothing plugs up your new core. Good luck...

i changed mine last weekend. it took me a while - about 9 hours. i work slowly and i also changed out the a/c evap core and a/c accumulator. even though i was careful, i lost a good portion of my dash. it just disintegrated! i've got a new dash cover on order to help hide the mess.

i found this video to be very helpful:

hope it goes well!

So i didnt get the heater core out. I took out all the bolts holding dash in and dropped the steering column and got the 2 bolts out down near the abs control modual. I got the dash to come out quite a bit but it seems like something else is holding it. I unplugged electrical connectors on passenger side. I just couldent get the dash to come up far enough to realy get at the box wear the heater core is in. I put it back togeather because i need another person helping me i think.

That's why its such a PITA lol because its so hard to get too. There's probably not enough room for two people. If you get a ratchet strap and hook one end to the bottom of the dash, and the other to the Oh-$hit handle, raise it up, you have more free room to work. I know it difficult but my second time doing it, I completed the whole project in two hours. But if you've never done it, yes its hard...

Don't forget the vaccumn connectors on the drivers side by the gas pedal. Should be a connector with, I think three vac. lines in it. That might be holding you back. Good luck!!
