It should be a longer number (eight digits then alpha characters):

THis is from my Ram, and I can't believe it is Mopar Performance - everything is stock on this truck (except what I have added).

I can't say why yours or for that matter maybe everybody else's pcm starts with a P. But I do know for a fact that most Mopar performance parts start with a P, I have purchased enough Mopar performance parts to know that. This is why I asked for his complete number.

Mopar Performance PCM Numbers

**P5249548 Engine Controller (1994–95 8.0L ATX Ram)
**P5249955 Engine Controller (1996 5.2L ATX Ram)
**P5007105 Engine Controller (1999 5.9L 4x4 ATX Federal Ram)
**P5249516 Engine Controller (1992–93 5.2L Dakota)
**P5007205 Engine Controller (2000 5.9L 4x2 ATX Federal Dakota)
**P5007111 Engine Controller (1999 5.9L 4x4 ATX Federal Durango)
**P5249545 Engine Controller (1994–95 5.2L ATX Ram and Dakota)
**P5007107 Engine Controller (1999 5.9L 4x2 ATX Federal Dakota)
**P5249546 Engine Controller (1994–95 5.9L ATX Ram)
**P5249935 Engine Controller (1996 5.9L ATX Ram)

This is the sticker off my pcm.

I just pulled some receipts for some Mopar Performance items I have purchased, and you are correct, merc. They all start with a P.

Aerogauge, I don't know what kind of tune you are looking for, but if you go with SCT from hemifever, talk to Sean. Give him VIN, year, and any mods you have done such as kegger, cam, etc. I don't remember giving him PCM part number.

5604 0770 1 w/5.2L Eng., 4Spd. Auto. 1996 Is indeed the stock pcm number for a 96 5.2. Sorry for causing any confusion.

Interesting; The parts book does not show a P in front of the part number.

Edit: I am thinking of going to an SCT keep us updated on your experience with it. I don't think that there are to many 96 owners using one.
