Default Melted Headlight Switch

Thought I'd post up some pics of it and the replacement parts. $71 at Advanced Auto. Comes with new switch, pigtail, and shrink tube. Pics are in my Interior Album.

I guess that was what I smelled the other day on the way home from work. It smelled like someone was riding their brakes really hard.

Ouchie. Which wires had the meltdown? Was it the wires from the headlights themselves?

I had the same thing happen to me. My headlights would randomly turn on and off as I drove down the road. New switch and a new relay/power supply setup for the headlights should be a fairly permanent fix. Just replacing the switch will not guarantee that it won't happen again.

It was one of the wires in the middle. The replacement switch came with a new pigtail which was a pain to put in since the wires in the dash are so short. I'll think about doing the relay bypass in the future but it's not a priority right now.
