Default Not sure if the trans is dead or not?

So i was driving back from a hockey game and the truck started to shake when i was just creeping, idling in construction traffic. It had done it the day before in the same situation. Went home and sure enough there was next to no fluid in the trans. Topped up the fluid, now its having trouble staying in gear or deciding what gear to be in. Having the OD off helps a little but not very much. It also is taking a lot more throttle to make the thing move.

So does the trans need a full rebuild or can i get away with just replacing a couple electronics and maybe a torque converter?

Ended up getting an 89 Accord in the mean time. Holy these dodges are pigs on the fuel! lol

Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh yeah... Its not the motor or the breaks or the 4x4, I'm 99% sure that its the trans that is the problem.

Check your fluid level again, in neutral. (you don't get an accurate reading in park.) Sounds like you are still low on fluid. Where is it all going??

No idea. I'm just worried the shaking may have chewed up some clutches or something internal that cant be fixed without a rebuild

It's hard to know without being there, but if the ATF isn't coming out then it's going in, which would mean a major internal leak. If that's what it is, the shaking is due to the converter being only partially filled -- which tends to beat hell out of them.
