Default Blend door motor continually spinning?

So I went to u-pull-it and purchased a new blend door motor thing (where the heater treater goes) and when I plug it in and turn it to all the way hot or all the way cold it continually spins with it out. My ac works but I spin the "heater treater" either way I still can't get any hot air, even warmed up. I flushed my heater core and it ran through nicely and both tubes to and from the heater core are very hot. Is the motor continually meant to spin? Or is that why my last one burnt out? Thanks

Is the motor installed? Or are you checking it with it out?

I was checking it with it out, I put it back in and it stopped after about a turn and just continually applied pressure, is this correct?

It should turn the door to the desired position, and hold it there. if that is all the way open, or, all the way close, there will be a bit of tension on the motor.

Alright thanks I'll install it, just wanted to make sure that wasn't the reason my last one burnt out.
last chance to fix my heat is a water pump and I hope that's the culprit!

You cant check it with it out, Like HeyYou said, as soon as there is tension/stress on the motor, it will shut off, adjust itself, and be ready for the reverse rotation. Printer/scanner motors work in the same manner.

Oh ok that makes sense thanks, I was confused why it would put out continuous force, seems like it would kill the motor, but that makes sense.
Is there any way to know if the motor spins clockwise or counter clockwise for hot? My dumb self took out the motor before paying attention to that and now i have a fifty fifty at getting it in the right way

Center the door, center the motor, center the temp control. Install motor.
