Default 1999 V-10 3.55's to 2002 4.10's w/disc

I have an opportunity to get a set of 4.10's with disc brakes for $300.00. Will this rear-end bolt right up to a '99? Not sure if the shaft will match up but that's the least of my worries. Just not sure if it will affect my tranny temp b/c it originally ran 245/70 or 75/16's and now I have 285/70/17's. Will this keep my tranny cooler, give me much higher rpm's on the hwy, burn up my tranny etc etc? If anyone has done this swap any info would be greatly appreciated. Would love the disc brake option as well. Not too worried about the rock and dirt factor since I didn't buy this truck for serious off-road or to beat it. Or if I wanted to, could I even bolt up the disc brakes with little modifications to my existing 3.55 rear-end? Thanks.

the rear end fit... you may need to get some type of vavle to controll the pressure for the rear brakes since you have drums now not sure 100% tho

my 2001 dodge ram 5.9L with the 46RE tranny and 35x12x20 mudders i have 4.10s i runs 2100rpm in OD at 80mph so i'm not sure what your 3.55 run now..

the low 4.10s will hurt you on the hwy a little bit but they great for towing and low end power

Yeah it's a dana 70 I believe. What I meant by hurting me was more in a sense of the tranny over-heating being that the tires would be bigger and the rear-end would be different, thus causing the tranny to spin faster or have more pressure on it than what it normally would with the OEM parts. Either way decided not to fix if if it's not broke. I'm running 2100 rpm now at 80mph so can't complain. The things a pig on gas either way, lol. And as far as power and torque I can't complain because I only bought the thing b/c it was such a good deal. $6000 w/ a new engine and not a speck of rust. May get shot for this but I am a GM fan but this was too good to pass up. And with the last 2 yrs having it I have 0 complaints or issues with it. 208000kms and still works perfect... so that works for me. Anyway thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it.

The higher gear ratio is good for bigger tires it actually makes life easier on the transmission. If your willing to spend the money it would definitely be worth it if you want to run bigger tires.
