Default PSC steering box brace

so i was told of this PSC steering box brace.... i'm wondering if it willl work or is it a waste of money?

y ball joints are crap and i need 1 new tie rod... and there getting replaced later this week.... my steering is so sloppy i have trouble keeping the truck going start down the road......

i know i will never have a perfect steering ram but anything is better than what i have now

so is this worth the 170 dollars?

Don't know anything about the PCS steering brace - but I replaced all the tie rod ends, ball joints, idler arm, and pitman arm and it steers great. Oh, yeah. I also rebuilt gerabox. There is an adjustment on the top of the gerabox, but if everything else is worn out, adjusting this won't help much.

I would replace ball joints and tie rod ends, check pitman and idler, and see how it steers. Then adjust gearbox and see. If you spend the money on the brace and that was not the issue, well, money gone. If the three bolts that hold the gerabox are on tight, don't see much need for a brace....imho.

yeah true.. i had my mechine look at it a few weeks ago and all 4 ball joints have major major play in them and my trac bar is good and pitman arm is good and all but 1 tie rod is good

i have the ball joints and he said he would charged 200 for labor plus it about 45 bucks for the tie rod....

i do have some play in the steering box like when the steering wheel is turned back and forth slowly while the truck is run and i have it jacked up under the axle you can the steering shaft going into the steering box move before the steering box starts moveing that pitman arm....

would that mean it needs to be adjusted?

I would try to adjust. either the ball screw is loose, or it has separated. I rebuilt the gearbox on mine, but if a persone has never built a ball screw before, it is a task. I would recommend replacing rather than rebuilding. Redhead is a goood box. http://redheadsteeringgears.com/

There is a screw on the top with a jam nut locking it in place. You can download service manual in the FAQ/DIY section. Instructions are pretty good. Go slow as this adjustment sets load on ***** in ball screw. Don't want to overtighten.

It is on the top of the 2nd gen Ram. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...d-how-tos-143/ I think service manual is on page 2. Parts manual there a little further down. Lots of good info in the FAQ/DIY section.
