Default No Heat, whats the problem???

Ok, I changed the thermostat since it was stuck in the open position- now that works, But I dont get any heat in the cab from the heater or defroster. What could be the problem- I also havent used the AC in 2 years and was empty on freon, when I did attempt to fill the ac lin up only half of the line would get cold and notice there is a block somewhere in the ac line, what could be the problem- could the heat problem be related to the ac problem also. Someone please help me, thanks.

Jamie

you need to burp the truck..

leave the radiator cap off, fire her up.. allow her to idle with the cap off.. rev it a few times.. fill as needed while all this is going on..

it's been said, and it works: put the front end of the truck on an incline, and as high as you comfortably can.. do the same thing previously said.. it will burp quicker..

your a/c issues are likely not related.. you most likely have brittle and non functioning seals in that thing if it's been empty and not used for as long as you said.

When the thermostat opens, you may get some bubbling out. Shouldn't be a lot though.

Ok, i burped the system on flat ground and then on incline. It gets warm when I rev the truck to about 2500 rpms then cools back down when I let off. I also added some 50/50 coolant like you all said, is this all i need to do or try again

It should do the job. I have spent an hour burping it to get all the air out. I think a few here have taken longer. Just get the front right corner as high as you can and make sure heat is on.

If all that fails and you still dont have heat, you can go to the auto store and pick up a $15 funnel for getting the air out of the system. Thats what I had to do
