Jack Points
Where are the safest places to jack up your truck when using a floor jack? I'm used to having a car where I can just put the jack on the pinch weld and lift er up. My truck sits to high to put the jack on the frame rails so I don't know any good places in the front or rear to lift it from. It isn't really safe to lift it from the lower control arms in the front is it? Whats the best place for front and rear?
i got a 4x4 so that wont work
anyone else have a better idea? I thought about putting a 2x4 or so up on the jack and putting it against the frame

It would help if we new what we are jacking up? and for what reason. Please take the time to fill in your signature, this can be done by going into your user Cp (found in the black bar up and to the left). I scanned this out of my owners manual.
Ok I see it a 4x4
Note that a 4x2 is to be jacked up via the frame rail.

On my truck with the factory bottle jack(I know you asked about floor jack) to lift the front enough to get my 17" wheels and 265/70's (stock is 16" 245/75) I have to put the jack underneath the coil springs, the rear I just use the axle shafts.
I cheated when I did the ball joints and used a MUCH larger bottle jack at the cross member in the front, which is just barely high enough to get this jack underneath it.
You can put a 2x4 on the floor jack and use it on the frame, just hope you get enough clearance in the front to get the tire off/on, the coil's will resist the wheels coming off the ground as much as possible.
