I have to replace my blown plenum and I'm wanting to eliminate it altogether, I've been looking at the Mopar M1 or the Hughes AirGap, there are pro's and con's to them both. Kinda hard to figure out which one to get.

I have no intention on doing an SCT Tune or other mod's except for a rear locker and some exhaust work.

Do not get either if you do not plan on at least getting a tune.

Please forgive the stupidity, but why is the tune so important with either the mopar m1 or the hughes airgap?

The airflow characteristics change and the stock tune doesn't take advantage of that, causing a low end torque loss.
