Default 3/4 ton steering problem

My 98 3/4 ton with a 5.9L gas, has very sloppy steering. I've heard this is a common issue with these trucks. Does anyone know where this problem occurs. To me the slop is in the pitman arm but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue before? Thanks.

Lots of people have sloppy steering. For me, it was the steering gear box. For others, it could be the drag link, tie rod ends, steering shaft, etc. Lots of causes for sloppy steering. The only way to know exactly what it is would be to inspect the components in the steering system and see what is worn. It usually requires a helper to turn the steering wheel so you can see what component is worn.

Check ALL the steering parts, starting at the base of the steering column. (a bushing there likes to be sloppy.) See what's bad, and fix/replace it.
