Won't idle down when moving
I have a 97 half ton 318. When the motor is cold it idles fine when sitting still. When you shift, push clutch in the motor revs up about another 500-700 rpms. Then when coasting in neutral it only idles down to about 1200 rpm until about 15 mph then down to about 1000. When I stop it idles down to normal. Then the other day I was drivin it and went to take off and gave it some gas and nothin happened so I gave it some more and nothin then all of a sudden it was full bore. I have heard that it could be a throttle positioning sensor. What do you think?
I'm having a similar issue with my truck, however I think mine is related to the linkage of the gas pedal to the throttle body.
But yes, the throttle position sensor could be a factor, but also the Idle Air Control. If it's the IAC, then you can remove it, clean it, replace it and see if that fixes it. I'm not too sure if you can clean the TPS because I never did it, but I have read that it's recommended to replace it 50k-60k miles.

Go to the FAQ/DIY section (or click here: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&p...uthkey=CJSan2Q ). I can't remember if TPS is in engine or fuel section. Manual will tell you how to test it.
