Can a radiator for a 5.9L work for a 5.2L? It sounds like the oil lines might have a different connections.

94-01 3.9,5.2,5.9 all take the same aftermarket part # (1552) in most cases. A couple of manufactures seperate the 5.9 as an aftermarket part# 2291 (98-01)and has a larger internal cooler. The difference may also be in that one has an auxillary trans cooler. The fitings/lines/cooler can be swapped in most cases, some aftermarket units can be harder than others due to varying manufacturing standards

Should in most cases, but always match it up completely before you install and fill. Also if that is a used automatic unit, flush/clean the cooler as few times. it's a good possibility that the source truck had a bad trans with these trucks.

You can get cooler flush from most decent parts stores or supply house, like napa, carquest or if you have a Dacco Detroit or ATC in your area.

 

Wouldn't brakleen and compressed air work as well?

 

It can in most cases, but the trans cooler flush is actually a little stronger chemically and with the track record of these transmissions, I like to get as strong a product as I can.
