Default Spectre Drop-in

Anyone use the Spectre drop-in filters? I need to change mine (has paper now, plus dirty). I don't want a cold air or short ram. I've always gotten K&N before but the Spectre is $30 cheaper. Just wondering if their any good or whether I should "go with what I know" and go K&N.

I have a Spectre drop-in since its basically the same as the K&N.

I've had no issues but one. On the filter is the pretty aluminum name plate with the spectre name on it going across. Remove it.

Besides that no complaints.

Thats wat I was thinking (basically same as k&n). For $20 I think I'll give it a shot.

I was blasted in the third gen section for singing the praise of spectre... Whatever.. they are dang near identical to k&n, or even volant for that matter.. I have all three.. I run the spectre in rotation, and it is just as good.

I imagine their drop in is similar, based on their similarities with the ones I run. But, yes, get rid of that badge.. there are some tales about those things you really don't want to hear..

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that tag getting into the motor. Correct?

These filters are garbage. We put one on a 98 dodge ram, the 2nd time we cleaned it the rubber was cracking. I recommend sticking with paper or a K&N .

I have one. Runs great.
I don't have a tag on mine, didn't come with one. I think they changed it somewhere along the line.

I have two spectre drop-ins. First one I bought had the aluminum tag, second one (bought later so I could swap them out for cleaning) had no aluminum nameplate. First one, I sucked the alum nameplate down onto (luckily not into) one of the butterflies of the throttle body. Scared the crap out of me when I found it laying there. So ya, remove it if its on there. Other than that, no problems. I have no experience with K and N. Refuse to pay that much for some rubber and mesh.
