Wow. Just -- wow. I managed to drive from Washington State to Illinois in a 1964 Karmann Ghia without a cup holder, holding my coffee *and* shifting.

Buncha girly men in this place. What are you people, F-A-G queer???

You didn't even get out of 2nd gear.

The age of the cup holder is the age of permanence (e.g., any liquid permanently on you).

Why you gotta hit on girly men?

The only issue I have with mine, is all the noise it makes when driving on anything bumpy. Its the style that drops down from the dash, you know the one, it can hold any size beer :P

I wonder if anyone has come up with a rig for that one yet?

Those 1600 air-cooled motors don't accelerate fast enough to dump your martini and the brakes don't stop you fast enough to spill your water pipe. I used to drive a 71 type II. Fun rig but it hated the passes in Colorado.

I know that noise. Click click click.... I think it comes from something tacky in the hinge.

My dad fixed my sisters when the hinge broke. I told him to get some picture frame cable and attach it to the top screw that mounts the cupholder to the dash and run a screw in where the hinge used to attach to the cupholder to hold the other end of the cable. Works like a charm.

If mine ends up breaking, I'll probably end up doing just that. Mine sounds like plastic sqeaking. Like it may be rubbing near the hinge.

Mine too. I sprayed a little grease, can't remember if it was white lithium or spray silicone, either way it didn't do anything.
