Default Easy cupholder fix

I bought a 95 ram a few weeks ago. couple days in and I found out how bad the cupholder design was for my coffee cup. One quick right turn and hot coffee went everywhere. I got mad and cleaned up the truck and my crotch. I took a good look at the cupholder and why it would'nt hold my cup. I am a carpenter so I grabbed some metal strap that they use to bind up lumber packages. It's 3/4'' wide steel strap. I cut a piece as long as possible to fit across the side opening which allowed my cup to fly out. I siliconed the strap across the opening as high as possible so that it would not interfere with closing the holder. I haven't lost a drink since. Haven't tried it on the passenger side but I really don't use that side.

not bad. i like it. i had that same problem in my dads truck one day, i was going around a ramp merging onto the highway and hammered it a little too soon and whoop there went my drink. always just held onto to my drink from then on. then i got my truck back in February and the pass side is broken. the part that holds the bottom your cup and its amazing. it hold everything except a pop can or 20oz bottle but the driver side is still good.

I frickin' HATE the cup holders on my 97. I almost wreck when I made a simple turn with a large soda in there. Spilled ALL over my lap and made me loss control. Great idea Mat & Jo.

If you have a automatic 2001 your cupholders still suck and will eventually break, if you have a standard then you have decent cupholders.

Mine is just dandy. I pity the fooz with < '00 model cup holders though.

That location looked like the 11th hour feature. "ahhh yeah homie, let's rick-roll the cup holder up here!!"

I only lose the cup if I forget to close down the holding latch. lol
