I have a 99 ram 1500 4x4. When I take off in town and than let off gas I hear a clunk. Would this be the rearend? I have a LSD rearend. It was rebuilt when I bought truck last year. Or could it be a loose chain in TC? Any info would be great.
It could just be drive shaft slop, transfer case saver (google that phrase), or your LSD not disengaging quick enough. Does it do this while turning or going straight?
Going straight I guess I never tried it while turning. Its like when I back out of driveway and take off than let off gas to turn it will clunk, but if I don't let off gas it won't do it.
Oh mine does that too, I always assumed that it was because it was a 4wd truck and it did it after my rebuilt transmission. But now I'm getting yet another transmission, transfer case, and drive shaft and I'll let you know if it fixes it
Mine does not do any clunky. I've seen someone post a video that seems like similar symptoms. It was on the driveshaft, but the clunk was in the transfer case, IIRC. I think VW identified it or something.
Sorry, that is the best my memory serves. Did you go to the SEARCH feature here, choose Advanced, select only 2nd gen section and actually enter "Clunk" for the keyword?
