Default Steering Question

Today on the way home I noticed a left to right "clunky" noise and feel when steering, it doesn't to it when at full lock, just normal range of left to right. It seems like it's coming from the middle, but can't really tell. It doesn't do it the entire turn either, just about half way through or so, and only for a few seconds, but it's consistent. I plan on jacking it up tomorrow and taking a look around.

What do ya'll recommend I start looking at first?

No, it just started today, on the way home from work. Drove her around yesterday, no problems.

Side note, either the coil springs, bushings, and/or shocks are being loud today, no squeak, just the up and down noise, kinda like a noisy bed....

Edit: I guess that noisy bed noise qualifies has a squeak too

Well, if the noise was not there before the wreck, then it's related. So I'd bring it back and show them.

Oh tay. I saw in the other steering related thread to check the steering column where it comes out the firewall, gonna check this and see if I can narrow down whatever it may be, before I let the shop have it again.

I would at least call them right away and let them know there is an issue - and don't sign anything else until it is finished. Probably good to notify insurance company as well.

Could even be a simple thing like they didn't torque the lower shock bolts correctly. Either way, it's not your problem. It's the shops.

To reiterate, note everything that seems to be different from BEFORE the accident. Check and recheck. After rechecking...look behind what you were checking. List that shiz up...and identify any relationship to the accident.

I'm not saying you milk everything. It has to make physical sense to make the case. Talk it over with the shop. Expect diagnosis b/c the point is to identify it correctly and then address it appropriately, via insurance or other.
