Default how much difference does the plenum fix really make??

hi all, am just about to do a few major things on the truck before winter gets much deeper up here in BC, Canada.

I am going to do the plenum fix, going to get the parts from lordco this week. I am doing my front drive shaft u joints and doing all oil including both diffs. the only thing i wont do is my 20,000km tranny service. (46re new 20,000 ago)

I did cap rotor plugs and leads about 4 months ago.
i will have a look at the cat and the sensors and replace as needed.
i am just wondering what to expect. i really am just hoping to have more power. and a bit better fuel economy. am i missing anything else in here guys?

looking forward to a re-invigorated ram in a week or so!!

It all depends on how bad yours is leaking. More power and better mileage come with fixing it but you won't be able to tell a difference if it's not leaking or just barely leaking. A sure fire way to see if it's bad is to pop the throttle body off, that will allow you to get a better view of the back of the intake manifold.

It made a huge difference on mine, but I had a lot of oil in the plenum. It looked like this when I opened it up!

I also changed the timing gears and chain to a doule roller chain with tensioner. And then I added SCT tune for good measure. Runs like a new truck.

when i bought my dodge is 2009 it run great had tons of power and got about 15-16mpg mixed of hwy/city driving (i also had stock size tires) i put 35x1250x16 tires on it mpg went done to 14mpg

then late 2010 truck ran like poo used oil and mpg dropped from 14mpg to 9mpg(sucks)

i recently replaced my plenum with a alum belly plan(i also modded the intake) spark plugs cap and rotor and 02 sensor...

i just pulled off 14.5mpg from my tank when i filled up today... truck will haul *** now i does 90mph+ with no problems will drive down the freeway at 70 likes its nothing

I am jealous.....I drove 1000 miles last weekend and only got 11mpg. Gotta find the problem, but can't figure - it runs great. Gonna play with other tunes to start.

so the day i finished up my plenum repair and tune up i filled up at chevron with reg 87 took 32 gas....ugh (tank is 34.5gal)

then last night i drove 406 miles in the last 2 weeks or so... filled up at same station same pump took only 28 gals so if i'm correcnt 406miles/28gals of fuel=14.5mpg

If you filled up both times then you're doing your math right

It makes a big difference, unless of course you want a clogged cat and cracked heads.

If/when you do the plenum might as well plan on replacing the Pre-O2 Sensor, and either gut or replace the catalytic converter cause it's probably not in the best shape, depending on how bad and how long the plenum was blown.

I've got some spending money coming in bout a month or so, so I'm holding out for either a Mopar M1 or Hughes AirGap and SCT Tunes from Hemifever. I want to eliminate the plenum issue all together.
