Ive had my Ram for 6 months now and the recerse lights dont work. Bulbs and fuse are good. Also the shifter moves out of park without having to push the brake pedal. I dont think that is normal.
I would just think its the Neutral Safety Switch, but seeing that the shifter is like it is I wonder if that has to do with the problem with the reverse lights.
Anyone have any ideas?? THANKS

Does it start only in neutral and park?

Possibly Neutral safety switch as it also switches reverse lights. There is a thread here somewhere where someone else had same issue and either screwed it in a little more or backed it out slightly and it started working. Can't remember exactly.

I can shift mine out of park without pressing the brake. Thought it was normal. I donno. Either way my back-up lights work fine, so I can't comment on whether or not its related. But, I would start with the neutral safety switch though.

You don't have to have your foot on the brake. It's normal.

My 3yr daughter almost drove off with my truck and a trailer. I had backed up to the trailer, got it locked onto the ball hitch, chained up, heard the truck go into gear (left it running, in park) then it started to idle down the drive way.

Got to it in time to put on the brake and get it back in park.
