So here's the dilemma, i have a 1999 dodge ram sport with the 5.9l magnum in it, The temperatures recently dropped to about -10 degrees celcius outside and now my engine never comes up to temp, therefore i get no heat in the cab, coolant is good, thermostat is brand new (2nd new one i've put in 195F Stat), burped the system, but yet the thermostat is still opening, i tested the thermostat in a bucket of water and it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do so i know that isn't the problem i think that i'm getting a hot spot around the thermostat causing it to stay open, i pinched off the top rad hose and let it idle, and engine temp came up to operating temps right away,my thought is possible intake problems? im kinda stumped anybody else have similar problems or a fix?
didn't seem to be any plugs in any of the hoses, and the heater core is fine because it does get hot in the cab if the engine temp goes up, so my problem is just getting the engine up to temp
I have a 192C thermostat in my truck and when it hits -20 and lower I slide a piece of cardboard with cutouts in it infront of the rad. Helps increase the heat when you need it. Never heard of wiz bangs but i'm sure they do the same thing.

Wiz bang is the technical term for the cardboard I think....
