I say a clamp wasn't tight enough, the pipe slipped off and now the disconnected pipes are touching where it slipped off.
I can't stand those clamps because I can never get a good seal with them. Now that I have a welder I don't have to mess with them though.

Then again, my sisters truck had the rattle only for a few seconds after starting it when the cat was bad.

The sealer just helps when using clamps .

If they used "cement" there might be a problem. LOL

If they didn't have to do any cutting or welding, it shouldn't be more than a one hour job for a basic technician. I hope they didn't charge anymore than $65 labor, and should probably be less than that if they want repeat business.

It took them an hour the first time I got it welded back on the guy told me they dont like to weld it cause it makes it harder to get off when another muffler is needed cause it has to be cut off.The muffler that rusted off was not welded it was just held on by 2 clamps thats the way it was when I bought it.Anyway its welded back on took the guy an hour to do it.After they weld it on they tell me they dont like to weld mufflers on cause stuff going flying all over the place when you weld lol.I wont be going back to this shop again and the labor rates are $98 an hour the sign on the wall said most shops here where I live charge 75 to 95 an hour for some reason. Then he tells me the muffler came lose cause the metal expended I just told him to weld it back on they did it and its done. oh and the power is back now with the truck it was the lose muffler go figure.the loud sounds gone too and the rattle sound is gone it was all the muffler.grrrrr
