Default Clunk Noise

Sorry if i missed a thread in the search but i didn't see what I'm looking for when i tried. I have a 98 ram 1500 4x4 and have developed a clunking noise from the rear of the truck when accelerating or when slowing to a stop. The noise is there in 2hi, 4hi and 4lo. There was no real vibration but you cold feel the clunk in the floor. I though it was u joints and had a guy at the shop replace them. NOW i have the same clunk noise (not as loud now) AND a slight vibration around 45-50 mph. So he replaced the joints again and have the same problem. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing or might have any suggestions.

Check the snap ring on the output shaft of the transfer case. Gotta drop the shaft, and pull the tailshaft housing to find it.
