I have a 98 Ram Quad cab long bed 4x4, I need the rear section of driveshaft. I am trying to find the length of that section. The rear shaft has a carrier bearing due to the long bed. I am looking for the length of the second section, if I can't get just that section then I will need the total length so I can get my daily driver back up and running.

 

Just spit balling here, but quickest call to a dealership should nail it?

 

Tried that. I could hear the service manager scratching his head through the phone......lol. looks like I can get mine repaired or remade for around $250 at a driveline shop. Gotta wait till they have time in between making all the race shafts for the dirt track guys around here though. gonna have my rig out of commision for a week.

 

Have you checked the JY ? Or car-part.com in your area

 

Yeah all the JY around here have plenty for the short bed rigs, but nothing for the long beds. the 119" and 139" wheelbase trucks have an abundance of JY parts, my truck has the 155" wheelbase due to the 8ft bed. The price I pay for being different I guess, besides not a lot of Ram parts in the junkyards, plenty of the GM and Ford parts there though.

 

Well $250 isn't really all that bad considering what the dealer charges. And you'll have a nice balanced drive shaft.
