Default Broken Hood Hinge!

Upon trying to close my un-lubed hood, the hinge snapped
Do I even really need this? The swivel part (the circular thing) seems like it's seized somehow--not moving like the other one does. Making it hard to close the hood. Is there a special way of getting it to move?

The only hinges I found are used ones on ebay for upwards of $60 ...which I don't wanna spend, but will if I have to.

Can I just have someone weld the broken piece back to the hinge then install it on the bolt? or is there an easy way of removing the hinge so I can close my hood easier?

JY= junkyard. Should be able to get a hood hinge pretty cheap, especially from a U-Pull-It type of place.

Junkyards really are great for things like hinges, trim pieces, and little interior things that the dealer would slam you for. I wouldn't get something like an alternator or a starter used, but a hinge or a molding or something you can save a bunch buying used.

I would also suggest cleaning the other hinge very well as well as the one form a JY, and then lubricating with white lithium grease to prevent it from happening again.

Depends on where they are broke, and if you can add some reinforcement to them.... if you can find a good used set, just go that route.
