man o man,here we go again.damn plate is getting touched by the ring gear and its driving me nutz.went through the same thing 2 years ago,had the starter and plate off 4 times before i fixed it.just where exactly on the oil pan is the plate supposed to rest?if i spend anymore time under the truck my wife is gonna put a bed under it for me.....................

I think it kinda fits up onto the part that holds the rear part of the oil pan gasket in place. I know I had to remove the cover on mine, to get the oil pan off.
