Im working on a 97 dodge ram 2500 4x4 and trying to remove the front carrier without a case spreader. My understanding is that the carrier needs to be removed to replace axle seals. I can get the carrier out approximatly 1/4 inch and then it stops. I have tried pry bars with no success. What should i do to get it out? Thanks.....

 

Well, if the pry bar you have isn't working, you're gonna need a bigger pry bar. That's the only way to get it out without a spreader. Took me a while to pry mine out without damaging anything. I left the caps on there (loosely) until I got it pryed out enough. That kept it from falling on the floor (it's heavy).
