Does your truck use excess amount's of oil?
No I have not done any real engine work to this truck yet. And I have not even noticed it useing alot of oil.

Ok, someone else then replaced just the plenum gasket and not the plate, which may hold for a little while but will eventually fail.

If/when you have to repair the plenum replace BOTH gasket and plate!!!

Just pull the throttle body and do some pokin around, see what you find. Some plenum's are blown like crazy other's not so much. So IF you have the problem, your oil consumption may not be all that much compared to other's.

No too sure about power, but if your plenum is gone then the O2 Sensor will be bad or going bad and will affect your gas mileage.

How many miles are on the motor?

Another thing to consider is the timing chain and gears! I'll bet there's some pretty good slack in it after all the years, unless it's been replaced at some point in time....

An old saggy timing chain will effect how well the engine responds. That could be part of the problem. And timing chains aren't terribly expensive, even the double roller ones they HeyYou seems to like

He'll tell you that was the single best thing he did to his truck, performance wise.
