'99 Ram 1500 Brake Upgrade
#72
Meant to reply sooner but I forgot. Rockauto has them listed for CAD$67.82 a pair and the only reason I'm actually looking at them is because they are powder coated. I don't really care for the red but I'm tired of them rusting out because of the salt on the roads. I'm ordering everything from there because they beat my local parts stores for price by miles.

I replaced calipers a year ago and looked into doing this upgrade. I chose not to because I would have had to also put 2500 pads on and mine were still good. It was a rush job so we just threw on rebuilt 1500 calipers with my old rotors and pads. The 1500 pads would not fit into the piston! The clip springs would not engage the larger piston. Not sure how you guys put 1500 pads into 2500 calipers, but if I were to do this, I'd get matching pads.
My brakes have ALWAYS sucked, and are sucking worse as of late. They lock up (rear) in the cold, have either great braking, or OH **** braking, and some of the lines are showing rust. Plus there's rust down the booster under where the master cylinder mounts. I'm looking at a complete overhaul. Plus sometimes when warm, I have NO power, like I'm towing a trailer. Not sure if it's vacuum related, but it is bad. If it weren't for my stick allowing engine braking, I'd be dead years ago in this thing.
