Question truck wont start!!

last night i changed the plenum gasket. big pain in the ***! well when i had everything but back together, my truck would not start... i put a fuel gauge on it and its getting fuel. i did the key cycle and it was showing cdes 11 and 12. 11 is No Distributor reference signal detected during engine cranking. Check the circuit between the distributor and PCM. and 12 is the battery disconnect. then 55 which is end of codes. any ideas?? i really need help!!

check that the wire for the cam position sensor (aka secondary pickup coil) in the distributor (under the rotor in the base) is plugged into the wiring harness - and not pinched under the intake.

Also make sure both ground wires are attached to the bolt to the left of the power steering pump.

The Air cleaner housing? If so, it would make it easier to see.

If you just changed the gasket, look forward to doing it again.....

Shouldn't have to pull the intake. Cam position sensor is in the dist. Harness runs behind the intake, where it is oh-so-easy to see...... may have trapped the wires..... ooops. If that look ok, check wires for crank position sensor as well. Find out which you are missing, spark, or injector pulse. That will tell ya which sensor is giving you fits.

Then check the ground wires as mentioned, and make sure all the sensors are plugged back in. You got the coil wires hooked back up? And did you have the negative battery cable disconnected while you changed the plenum gasket?
