Default 2001 v10

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and new to Dodge trucks. I am looking to purchase a Dodge truck and found a very nice one with the V10. I understand they don't get very good mileage. The guys over at G-Force performance Chips tell me that their chip will improve performance by 35-40 HP and at the same time increase mileage by 3-4 MPG.

Anyone had any experience with these?

Thanks.

Chips don't do sh*t. End of story. You need and can get a programmer though. SCT from Hemifever is regaurded as the best.

It isn't just increases in power numbers, it's also the elimination of torque management, and a few other tricks. Don't expect big gains in MPG, it's a V-10, not a shining example of a fuel sipper. It's a truck. If you can average 12 to 15 MPG with the 488, count your blessings. If you tow/haul, expect that to drop to single digits.

It's definitely not a fuel sipper, but neither are the v8's. I wouldn't change the fact that I got a v10. 9-10 mpg while towing 10,000 lbs works for me.

I haven't done the SCT tuner yet, but it is really supposed to help. Think about doing intake and exhaust work first. It will probably need the cats replaced since they seem to be good for 60k miles. New O2 sensors and a tune up to get the best mpg possible.

Find out what gear ratio it has in it. The 3.55 gears aren't great for towing or good gas mileage in city driving situations. It will give good mpg for highway driving though. 4.10 gears are just the opposite. If running larger than stock tires, you will want at least the 4.10's.
