Default 1996 Dodge Ram headlight problem

I've been a long time reader on the forum but this is my first time posting.

I have a problem with my headlights on my 1996 Ram 1500.
The headlights will randomly go out after driving about 10 miles or so.

I can push the switch in and leave the headlights off for a minute and they will stay on for another 10 miles or so.

I can't seem to replicate it when i'm not driving.

Any ideas where to even start would be greatly appreciated

Replace the HL switch. Check the wire harness on the back of it while doing so.

yup...most vehicles use a relay to prevent this from happening but dodge wanted to save $ it seems... contacts burn up in the switch from too much current over time..

I appreciate the fast response,I've been searching all over google and other forums trying to find someone with the same problem.

Now maybe if anybody else has the same problem they can find this thread.
