I do not know, but it would seem logical. Maybe checking Dana website would answer the question.

Would your year have been in b/t axle changes from the factory?

Purpose of the 5 bolt 44? Is it from some other vehicle? I'm trying to understand the application relative to the question.

8 lug dana 44 is the same as a 5 lug as far as strength. You can run 35s nicely with d44 though no matter the lugs lol, i do. 8 lug d44 is from a 2500 LD truck

well rite now i run 35's on 44 and the 35 are starting to cause neg camber. So i was going to put the other d44 which is the 8 bolt in (it was free), or should i just hold out for a d60? And just hope that the d44 last that long till i find one.

Find a pair of D60's. Much stronger than the 44's. The eight lug isn't any stronger than what you already have. It's the same basic axle, with different hubs on it.
